Gerda Theodora Geerdes age 85 of Rochester passed away December 5, 2011 at Samaritan Bethany Heights where she had resided the past month.
Born on February 12, 1926 in Katowice, Poland the daughter of Albert & Angelika (Ziorko) Zock. She married Derald Duane Geerdes on December 5, 1946 in Germany and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2007.Mrs. Geerdes worked in the cafeteria at Saint Marys Hospital for 25 years prior to her retirement.She also worked as a secretary and seamstress prior to coming to Rochester.Her husband served a career in the U.S. Army so they lived in many places during there married life prior to moving to Rochester in 1962.She was a longtime member of St Pius X Catholic Church.
Surviving her is a daughter: Doris Brown (Charles) of Rochester and one nephew: Werner (DeNice) Janssen of Zimmerman, MN.She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons: Donnie and Michael, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home.Visitation one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.Memorials appreciated to Samaritan Bethany Heights 1530 Assisi Drive NW Rochester, MN 55901.Burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
