ROCHESTER -Dorothy M. Jones, 89, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her home in Rochester.
Dorothy was born in Pine Island on November 20, 1922 to Harry and May (Prouty) Hayden.She married Kenneth Jake Jones on March 22, 1947.Jake passed away in 1985.Dorothy was a matriarch member of Seventh-day Adventist Church.She was very active in the church, assisting with pot luck, school activities, and the church board.She enjoyed making baby items for new mothers in church, watching hockey, and was an avid Vikings fan.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Stan Jones, of Sioux City, IA, and Kenneth (Linda) Jones, of Hope, MN; two sisters, Anna Chilson, of Byron, and Mary Lou Chilson, of Byron; a brother, Derald (Mary) Hayden, of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Jones; her parents; two children, Ron and Nadine; and six brothers, Oliver, Ivan, Jim, Raymond, Wes, and Bud.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1100 37th Street NW.Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.

She always made us feel so loved and was always there for her family!! I felt so good the the last time I deployed to Iraq knowing that Dorothy would be staying with Nadine and they would be taking care of each other at our house. Dorothy was with Nadine when she passed away and I was so grateful she was able to hold her in her arms!! Nadine has welcomed you to heaven with open arms. I'm sure they have caught up while shaing a thin crust pizza (with green olives) from Mr. Pizza and will be watching the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.
