Layton Alton Steinke
December 6, 1918 - April 5, 2012

ROCHESTER Layton A. Steinke, 93, died on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Layton was born in Augusta, WI on December 6, 1918 to Leo and Anna (Hass) Steinke.He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.Layton joined IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1946 before moving to Rochester in 1957.He worked for IBM for over 45 years.Layton married Beverly Dohlke on December 27, 1960 in Waterloo, IA.He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Rochester Exchange Club, and the Rochester Male Chorus for 39 years.Layton enjoyed fishing and also spending time with his family.

Layton is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly; a daughter, Dianne Rominger, of Thousand Oaks, CA; two grandchildren, Debra (Pat) Lynch, of Thousand Oaks, CA, and David (Lisa) Rominger, of Simi Valley, CA; two great grandchildren, Sydney and Ryan Rominger, of Simi Valley, CA; and a sister, Lucille Eckes, of Appleton, WI and Lucille's four daughters, Barbara, Nancy, Susan, and Sandy.

Layton is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Agnes Suryan.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Ave. SW with Rev. William Otte officiating.Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors.

Memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic for Research in Alzheimers or Cancer.
