ROCHESTER -Marvin William Scheitel, 83, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Marvin was born in Potsdam, MN on July 12, 1929 to Rev. George and Mathilda (Burmester) Scheitel.He served in the U.S. Army and saw action in the Korean War.Marvin was united in marriage to Hazel Ruth Beese on July 3, 1955 in Medford, MN.He was always interested in autos and worked as an auto mechanic for many years.As a young man, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling.Marvin loved children, ice cream, and reading magazines,Faith and church were very important to him.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hazel; a daughter, Rev. Joyce (Ian) Graue, of Raymond, MN; a son, Mark (Dr. Sidna) Scheitel, of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Nathan) Rauh, Dan Scheitel, Marianne Scheitel, Theodore Scheitel, all of Rochester, Andrew Graue, of Australia, Catherine Graue, of Vanuatu, and Thomas Graue, of Australia; two great grandsons, Benjamin and David Rauh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Herbert, and Kenneth; and five sisters, Irene, Lois, Frances, Eunice, and Marie.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 559 20th Street SW, with Rev. Ann Siverling officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
