ROCHESTER, MINN:David L. Rich, 65, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his home in Rochester.
David Lewis Rich was born July 12, 1948 to Lewis J. and Adeline E. (Brehmer) Rich in Rochester, MN. David graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965. He worked construction until July 1986 at which time he started working for the City of Rochester in the Street and Alley Department and later in the Park and Recreation Department. David retired in July 2012.He married Judy Larson on August 15, 1970 in Rochester, MN, and they were blessed with two beautiful children. He enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR and attending races with his friends. David also enjoyed tubing down the river, camping, gardening, helping people with remodeling projects, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife Judy Rich, Rochester, MN; his daughter Lori (Travis) Christenson, Rochester, MN; his sister Diane Shanks, Rochester, MN, his three brothers Dennis Rich, Lime Springs, IA, Dean Rich, Fargo, ND, and Duane (Sue) Rich, Rochester, MN; and Helen Rich, Lake City, MN. David is survived by many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a loving family, his beloved dog Nurse Bridget, many good friends, great neighbors, and friends from Peace United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jason.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ with the Reverend Paul Bauch officiating.Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mayo Clinic for pancreatic cancer research or Peace United Church of Christ.
