Robert Eric Lee, 69, died September 23, 2017 in Edmonds, Washington. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30 at the Rock of Hope Baptist Church in Edmonds.
Robert was born on May 27, 1948 in Leamington, England, then moved to Australia at the age of 10. He excelled at sports as a youth and went on to play for the Australian National Rugby Union Team at 16 years old. He earned a B.A. in Agricultural Engineering before being drafted to fight in the Vietnam War with the Australian Army.
Robert worked at sea for most of his life. He spent 37 years as a ship captain and engineer in the Bering Sea, and later as Chief Engineer for a vessel in Pearl Harbor. When Robert finally found dry land in Edmonds, he became actively involved in his church; volunteering for a local food bank, teaching English to immigrants, and singing at assisted living homes. Robert loved helping everyone around him and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mimi, as well as his eight children and six grandchildren.
