Clair E. "Eagle" Baldwin, 81, of Hale, Iowa, died on Monday evening, November 1, 2010, at his home in Hale, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 6, 2010, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no visitation. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a
later date.
Clair E. "Eagle" Baldwin was born on December 20, 1928 in Palo, Iowa, to Adelbert Clair and Nora Beatrice (Burkart) Baldwin. He was educated in Palo schools. He married Clare Ann Paulsen on December 24, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"Eagle" had worked as a mechanic and shop foreman for Eye Chevrolet in Palo and Anamosa, then as a tool shop foreman for Bob Mickey in Anamosa, and lastly as a mechanic for Doug Schoon in Anamosa. He retired in 1994 after over 45 years of service.
"Eagle" was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He also enjoyed sitting on his swing on the front porch visiting with his friend Jim Loehr, and watching the birds and admiring the lilies. First and foremost were his children and grandchildren, and his little dog Lexi.
"Eagle" is survived by his wife, Clare Baldwin of Hale, IA; children, Mick Baldwin of Monticello, IA, Julie (Brad) Brownell of Wyoming, IA, Rosalinda Grimm of Bellevue, IA, Cindy (James) Herman of Olin, IA, and Billi Jo (Stan) DeWine of Oxford Junction, IA; a sister, Beverly Packingham of Palo, IA; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Harvey Baldwin.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Clair E. "Eagle" Baldwin memorial fund has been established.
