Gary Paul Strand, 63, son of Ken Strand and stepmother Carol Strand, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2017 after a short, unexpected illness in Boca Raton, Florida.
Gary was born on November 13, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a hardworking, kind and gentle spirit. Gary was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, model car collector and loved music, especially classical and opera. He said goodbye to his beloved wife Eileen Galvin, on November 11, 2013 after 20 years of marriage. Gary loved and cared for her through a prolonged illness and showed his devotion to her daily. He is survived by his father Ken, stepmother Carol, his beloved sister Terry Sue (husband Terry) and his brothers Randy (Maria), Kenny (Maria) and Barry (fiancée Julie). He was a devoted Uncle to Lindsey Strand-Polyak, Kelsey Strand-Polyak, Adam Strand-Polyak, Kenneth Strand III, Graciela Strand, Billy, Eileen, Sinead, Bridget, Zoe, Summer and Jake.
We know when he arrived in heaven; his wife Eileen, mother Corine Strand Poe and grandparents were there to welcome him home.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at First Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale in the Parlor Room (301 E. Broward Blvd) on Saturday, October 14th at 10:30 a.m.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
