"TO the Hannes family- Your dad touched so many lives in a positive way. He was such a nice man. His teaching of shop skills helped me to gain a career in manufacturing and, ultimately, retire from John Deere. He also taught me common sense lessons that I will carry for the rest of my life. I can see Bob and my dad Hap playing softball in heaven. I hope they have a keg chilling for after the game."

Jerry & Susan Bolton wrote on Feb 1, 2011:

"Bob and Mary were great people. Working across the hall, in the basement of Bennett school, I had the opportunity to share our humble facilities for my Ag students with Bob's Industrial arts students. He was always willing to share tool, equipment and, most importantly, good advice to a rookie teacher back in 1972. "

I wish I could be there to extend my sympathies to each of you in person but I had committed to teaching a cpr class on Saturday. "I want to express my sincere condolences in learning of the passing of Robert Hannes. He was a good man and friend while we taught together in the Bennett Community School District from 1968 1980 when I left. I seldom had a chance to visit after he retired, but both Bob and Mary were gracious hosts. It is sad to realize how quickly time passes we we are reminded in this manner. To all the remaining family: May God lift you up and give you peace and you remember how fortunate you were to have had this man in your life. Sincerely, Vic Bjork"
