Michael Thomas McDonnell
Michael Thomas McDonnell was born May 28th 1953 in Algona, IA, son of Thomas "Tommy" and Mary J. "Mae" (Higley) McDonnell. Mike was the youngest of five children and raised a mile north of Whittemore on an acre where Mr. McDonnell's Standard Oil Station was located. Mike graduated from St. Michael's and Garrigan High School.
Mike had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was well known for his outstanding sandblasting and painting abilities, winning many awards for his talents. He was also an outstanding cook and baker, like his Mother. His Lasagna was an Epicurean delight.
Mike died of complications after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, IA at the age of 52. He resided in West Bend, IA
He is survived by a daughter, Michele, a medical student in Kansas City, MO, brother Jim and his wife Almeda of Royal, IA, sisters Mary Ford, San Diego, CA and Maureen McDonnell, Sioux City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John (Jack).
