Norma Hellman

Norma Jane Hellman was born February 14, 1930 in Welcome, Minnesota, daughter of Joe and Margaret (Huck) Loos. She grew up in Buffalo Center graduating from Buffalo Center High School in 1948. After graduation she continued her education in the art field. Norma married William Hellman on September 6, 1948 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Minneapolis, MN. Norma and Bill farmed near Burt until retirement in 2001 and moving into Bancroft.

Norma was employed as an art instructor at Exceptional Opportunities in Burt. She enjoyed cooking, art, reading, and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren.

Norma J. Hellman died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, at the age of 76.

She is survived by her husband Bill of Bancroft; seven children, Dianne Walton and her husband George of St. Louis, MO, Robert and his wife Rita of Colorado Springs, CO, Roger and his wife Sharon of Bloomington, IL, Richard and his wife Debra of Burt, Larry and his wife Mary of Burt, Brian and his wife Michelle of Mitchell, SD, and Amy Kallaher and her husband Mike of Dubuque; 25 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Anne Engel of Mt. View, CA, Rosie Dalen of Minneapolis, MN, Esther Schrader of Burt, Frank Loos of Minneapolis, MN, Nadine Rosenbaum of California, Jim Loos of Ottumwa, and Gary Loos of Tampa Bay, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Darrell in 1991; one sister, Hermina Stenzel; and three brothers, Don, John, and Ed Loos.
