Delores L. Poppe

Delores Laverna Poppe was born April 14, 1921 in Henderson, Minnesota, daughter of August G. and Laura Louisa (Ahlers) Busse. She was baptized on May 8, 1921 and confirmed on March 25, 1934. Delores attended school at District 12 in Jessenland Township and at Henderson Public School. She then worked near Gaylord and Henderson, MN for a time and graduated from Johnson's Academy of Beauty Culture. She worked as a cosmetologist in Blue Earth, MN for many years.

Delores was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Poppe on June 19, 1955 in Henderson, MN to which four children were born. They lived in Blue Earth for five years and moved to Ledyard in 1960 where they lived until Kenneth died in 1993. In the fall of 1993, Delores became a resident of St Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.

Delores loved to cook and visit with her family and many friends. She enjoyed embroidery work, collecting angels, gardening, and puzzles. She was a member of Bethany E & R Church in Ledyard and served on Resident Council and St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, in Blue Earth.

Delores L. Poppe died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at United Hospital, Blue Earth, MN at the age of 85. She has battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 40 years.

She is survived by four children, Richard Poppe and his wife Donna of Elmore, MN, Billy Poppe of Waseca, MN, Lori Jorgensen and her husband John of Fairmont, MN, and Lisa Poppe of Durham, NC; five grandsons, Andy, Aaron, and Adam Jorgensen, and Dylan and Spencer Poppe; one brother, Willard Busse and his wife Rosemary of Henderson, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth on July 23, 1993; and one sister Eleanor Geib.
