Dean R. Recker

Dean Richard Recker was born on June 22, 1939, at Bancroft, Iowa, to Joseph "Buster" and Irma Gilbertson Recker. He grew up in Bancroft, and attended the St. John's Catholic School in Bancroft. When Dean was 18, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked as a maintenance man at the Hotel Fort Des Moines for many years. In the mid 1980's, he started working for Meredith Insurance Company in Des Moines and had been employed there until his death.

Dean enjoyed collecting and watching old movies and was very good at old music trivia.

He died suddenly on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He was 67.

Dean is survived by his brothers and sisters, Dennis Recker and wife, Norma, Wisconsin, Karla Schumacker and husband, Bill, LuVerne, Iowa, Candace Recker, LuVerne, Iowa, Irma Recker, Westminster, Colorado, Vern Recker, Minnesota, Joleen Deitz and husband, Robert, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Ken Recker, Idaho and Kathleen Mau and husband, Jason, Truman, Minnesota. Also surviving are 2 children and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Edward and William and his sister, Kay Horswell.
