Arnold William John Brandt was born on January 25, 1919, at Titonka, Iowa, to Martin and Caroline (Rode) Brandt. Arnold attended country schools, then farmed near Ledyard and Woden before settling near Titonka. On November 14, 1941, Arnold was united in marriage to Alma Christ at Lakota, Iowa. They had four children. On May 27, 1987, Alma died. On November 18, 1989, Arnold married Ruth McGreevey in Algona. Arnold farmed his entire life including last fall when he harvested his own crop.

Arnold was active in Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. As a long time member, he served on the church council, the call committee and as a trustee. Arnold had a great faith and loved life. He enjoyed raising beef cattle and later in life restoring old tractors. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Arnold died on Saturday morning, May 12, 2007, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 88.

Survivors include his wife Ruth of Titonka; son Kermitt and wife Carol of Elmore, Minnesota; son Keith and wife Janet of Burt, Iowa; daughter Karen Asa of Marion, Iowa and son Kevin and wife Diane of Storm Lake, Iowa as well as eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also had five step-children, Dennis McGreevey and wife Carol of Wesley, Iowa; LeAnn and husband Randy Vinsand of Humboldt, Iowa; Kay and husband Joe Courtney of Algona, Iowa; Karen and husband John Graves of Duluth, Minnesota, and Tim McGreevey of Salt Lake City, Utah, 11 step-grandchildren and two step- great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Alice and husband Francis Pfeffer of Titonka, Iowa; Audrey Engelbarts of Scottsdale, Arizona and Lennice Presthus of Delaware, Ohio. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Alma, and one brother Kenneth.
