Glen was born June 8, 1930 in Whittemore, IA to Frederick and Gertrude (Kaschmitter) Kollasch He graduated top of his class in 1948 from Presentation Academy in Whittemore Iowa. A few years later he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served until November 1955. After his military service he pursued a career spanning 30 years as a water well-driller where he was partners in Virgil P. Elbert Well Drilling.
In July 1972 he married the love of his life Alice Smith of Emmetsburg, Ia. His hobbies included a deep love for music, playing baseball, fishing, reading books, and most importantly his family. Glen also had a passion for community service where he served as president of the American Legion Post 425, president of the St Michael Holy Name, Whittemore City Council Member, Song Leader and Choir member of St. Michaels Catholic Church of Whittemore, St. Joseph's in Milford and St. Mary's in Solon, Iowa.
Glen G. Kollasch, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Iowa VA Medical Center, Iowa City at the age of 78.
Glen is survived by his wife: Alice Kollasch of North Liberty, IA; his children: Gary Moore of Whittemore, IA, Jeffrey Moore of Milford IA, William Moore and wife Sherry of Wichita, KS, David Moore and wife Maria of Mansfield, Texas, George Bailey and wife Charlotte of Iowa City, IA, Sam Kollasch and wife Astonah of Waterloo IA, and Amy Wellendorf and husband Chad of Milford, IA; his grandchildren: Ryan and Krystina Moore of Tampa FL, Daniel and Cassandra Moore of Wichita KS, Rebecca Moore, Alexander Bailey, Marisa Moore, Jasmine Bailey, Evan Wellendorf, and Allison Wellendorf; and his great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Moore and Hailey Moore. Glen is also survived by his siblings Helen (Andy) Miller, Ruth (Ed) Bouc, Bea (Howard) Miller, Milo (Anita) Kollasch, Mark (Alice) Kollasch, Norma (Richard)Lane; his in-laws: Violet Pergande, Roberta and Raymond Hanson, Sandra Smith, and Eric and Carolyn Smith.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Fred and Gertrude Kollasch; his siblings Howard Kollasch and Msgr. Louis Kollasch; his in-laws: Frank and Ada Smith, Ernst Pergande and Martin Smith.
