"I met Joy some 20+ years ago at work, Allison Transmission, and am deeply saddened by her passing. She's one of the sweetest gals I've ever met. Through a friend's email prayer-chaining, I had prayed for Joy some time ago in her ealier struggles with cancer. Joy has been a wonderful testament to how much we need a gentle and loving presence in our lives. Via con Dios to Joy."

"In the center of the castle of Brahman, our own body, there is a small shrine in the form of a lotus flower, and within can be found a small space. We should find who dwells there, and we should want to know her. And if anyone asks, Who is she who dwells in a small shrine in the form of a lotus flower in the Center of the Castle of Brahman? We can answer, The little space within the heart is as great as this universe. The heavens and the earth are there; the sun, the moon, the stars; fire and lightning and wind... for the whole universe is in Her and She dwells within our heart. Adapted for our Joy from Chandogya Upanishad 8.1 "

"Bob, Paul, and Jackie, (and spouses and sisters and Miriam!): I will really miss my friend. Joy was one of the most gentle people that I've ever known and just so practical. She made me laugh and surprised me with strong opinions. When she was recovering from her first surgery and chemo treatments, we talked about not wanting to be identified as a sick person. She'd been working out, and she said she was ready to arm wrestle anyone! :) I'm grateful to God for her life and friendship, her faith example throughout the years, to know of her love for you, and of your faith, love, and of your dedication to her. She fought the good fight -- and so did you. You remain in my prayers. Love, prayers, hugs, and Jesus -- julie"
