"I am the daughter of Lawrence Thompson, Uncle Charlie's brother. It makes me feel sad to think I didn't know Charlie; my family visisted the farm only once that I can remember as a child. I have lived in Calif. all my adult life and not visited Iowa. May Charlie rest in peace knowing he had friends and family that knew him wall and loved him greatly. I send my love to the grandchildren. Blessings! "

"I have visited Uncle Charlie a few times on the farm and at the Eagle Grove home, with my Mom Connie who was his niece and I am his Great Niece Lisa. He was a sweet man, always happy to see us and share with us, we will miss him. I am surprised that his niece's and nephews who always kept in contact and visited with him weren't mentioned at all, but that is neither here nor there, we all still loved him, and will miss his quiet sense of humor."
Cherie Baudrand wrote on Mar 26, 2009:
"I had heard my mom, Virginia Baudrand, talk about Uncle Charlie and the farm in Iowa all my life. I finally got to meet him when a group of us, his family, toured Iowa and spent a day with him, as my sister and cousin mentioned. We learned a great deal and made copies of old photos. He patiently answered all our questions, and we took some family photos. I was sad to leave because I knew it would probably be the last time we would see him. I wrote him at Christmas and let him know how much that visit meant to me.
Charlie's brother, Boyd Thompson was our grandfather. Charlie was the last of that generation of Thompsons. Our condolences to his step children and Jim, Tom,and Linda Irwin, his other great nephews and nieces. I know you got to visit him more often than us in other states. "
