Mr. Frederick Charles Vollrath
January 20, 1923 - February 7, 2009

FREDRICK C. VOLLRATH, 86, left this life and passed to his heavenly home on February 7, 2009. He was born to Emil C. Vollrath,Jr. and Marie Schlenker Vollrath, Merle Keane Vollrath, step-mother. He is survived by sisters, Louise Joyce, San Luis Obisco, California, Donna Marie Van Kirk, West Columbia, Texas, adopted family, Wayne and Anita Adkins, Carmel, In, and his devoted caretaker Beverly Medlen, Indianapolis, In. and many friends.
Mr. Vollrath was a tax accountant retiring in 1981. Mr. Vollrath performed at Listener's Auditoriun for President Truman in Washington D.C. Mr. Vollrath sang solos at Mount Surobachi on Iwo Jima after the famous flag raising on Easter Sunday, 1945.
Mr. Vollrath joined the U.S. Marine Corp in November 1942 and served as a sargent assigned to the 3rd Marine Division where he endured the Guam and Iwo Jima campaigns of World War II. Once back in Indiana, he returned to his job at Indiana Bell.
Mr. Vollrath was considered to be an Indianapolis historian specializing in Indianapolis theaters.

Services are being handled by Crown Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Crown Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel, 700 West 38th .St., Indianapolis, IN
