Gloria Ann Shearer
October 24, 1942 - July 17, 2016
Gloria Ann Shearer passed away on July 17, 2016 of natural causes. Born October 24th, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert Melvin Shearer and Geraldine Blanche Shearer. A resident of Denver, CO, she was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Ottawa, Illinois.
She is survived by her four children, their spouses and six grandchildren: Rhonda Reymond (Mark), Jeffry Laseman (Katherine; Delaney, Angelina), Jason Laseman (Michelle; Alexandria, Cedric), and Jennifer Laseman (Martin; Finnian, Rory) and her brother, Roger Shearer (Barbara), and sister, Karen Sagi (John), and five nieces and nephews.
All her life she loved, celebrated and created art and fine crafts. Gloria believed in the power of art and was endlessly intellectually curious and read voraciously about the subject. She earned a BFA in Art (1992; Sculpture and Jewelry) and MS in Art Therapy (1994).
A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Ottawa, Illinois on August 20th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Gloria's name to The Gathering Place,
