Lawrence Larry Fraikes
Canton Lawrence Larry Fraikes, 76, of Canton passed away Friday March 3, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on April 26, 1940, in Ipava, IL to Oscar and Hazel (Ginseal) Fraikes.
He married Anita Bath on December 15, 1976 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are five children Gene (Frank Mazzo) Fraikes of Azle Texas, Carol (Michael) Poindexter of Canton Illinois, Dennis (Shannon) Fraikes of Chillicothe Illinois, Chris (Kevin) Lester of St. Charles Illinois, Nelson (Cynthia) Kirkaham of Cody Wyoming , one brother Charles Fraikes of Port Byron Illinois, one sister Bernice Rilea of Canton Illinois, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter Denise Fraikes, two brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren.
Larry worked as a dispatcher at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 43 years. Larry enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards. He was also an avid Cubs fan. He was a past member of the Canton Country club, and the Wee Ma - Tuk Hills Country Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery .
Memorials may be made to St Judes Childrens Research Hospital or Meals on Wheels.
