Charles Lee Hitchcock
October 3, 1936 - January 15, 2016

Charles Lee Hitchcock, 79, of Elmwood, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 15, 2016. Charles was born on October 3, 1936, to Paul and Susanne (Smith) Hitchcock. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth (Peters) Hitchcock; three daughters, Karmin (Gary) Stevens, Stephanie (Jack) Colgan, and Margaret (J. Michael) Maloof; ten grandchildren: Kellie Preece, Grant, and Brooke Stevens; Caroline, Abigail, Claire, and Corinne Colgan; Katie, Ethan, and Lydia Maloof; two sisters, Paula (L. Gene) McCoy and Jean (Glenn) McBeth, as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia.
Charles owned and operated Edson Smith & Sons, a local family hardware store for ten years. He also worked for Paul Brooker Sales, and later for H & H Hardware until the tornado destroyed the business. He was a courier the past four years at Jim Maloof Realtor. He loved playing golf and was one of the founding members of Maple Lane Country Club.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016, at Maple Lane Country Club in Elmwood where the family will receive guests two hours prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Elmwood Educational Foundation, or Unity Point Methodist Hospice. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood is in charge of arrangements.
