Kirk William Kavanagh, 34, of Keokuk, died early Thursday morning, November 3, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Kavanagh was born April 1, 1971 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of James and Marsha Wyrick Kavanagh. He married Rebecca Koechle on March 17, 1995 at Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He was a lifelong Keokuk resident and was employed by Heintz Electric.

He was a member of Evangelical Free Church where he was a youth group leader and Trustee of the Church. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a fan of Rams football, St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed video games and was a talented artist in drawing and sculpting and had displayed his art in Kathryn Hart Exhibits and had received a first place ribbon for his work.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; two children, Kara and Braeden of the home; his parents, James and Marsha Kavanagh of Keokuk; a sister, Kathy Strong and her husband, Brad, of Keokuk; paternal grandparents, Jim and Joyce Kavanagh of Keokuk; mother-in-law, Mary Koechle of Keokuk; sister-in-law, Michelle Privia of Keokuk; two nephews, Seth Strong and Cheyenne Butcher; a niece, Hannah Strong; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don & Mildred Wyrick, and grandmother, Ruth Schmidt.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 7, 2005 at Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Craig Burton officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials may be made for his children's education fund.

"I just found out through a friend about Kirk passing away. I have some good memories of time spent with Kirk and Becky. After looking at the photo memories it reminds me of how much Kirk loved life, to laugh, and most of all spend time with his friends and family. Becky, I will keep you and the children in my prayers. Kathy, your brother still holds the record for the worlds best strawberry dacquiri!!! I miss you guys :)"
