Ruby J. Varner, 84, of Keokuk, died early Monday morning, November 7, 2005 at Montrose Health
Center in Montrose, Iowa.
Mrs. Varner was born October 2, 1921 in Bowen, Illinois, the daughter of James and Florence Shaw Miller. She married John Varner on May 31, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He survivors.
Mrs. Varner was self-employed and a homemaker. She was a member of Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church. She raised several foster children. She also extended her hand to help many of the young and older citizens.
She is survived by her husband John Varner of Keokuk, Iowa; Two daughter: Shirley Perkins and her husband Fred of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Janet Gail and her husband Rick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three sisters: Ethel (Miller) Turtle of Chehalis, Washington, Doris (Miller) Bowden of Quincy, Illinois, Opal (Miller) Miller of Toledo, Washington; Two brothers: Russell Miller of Olatha, Kansas, Robert Miller of Keokuk, Iowa; Four grandchildren: Carmel Sherman and her husband Donald, Amanda Grochala and her husband Brian, Neil Gail, John W. Fletcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Miller.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church Participating clergy will include: Rev. Jim Austin, Rev. Jerry Happs, Rev. Floyd Payne, Rev. Wesley Davis and Rev. John Curtis. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Children in Need fund.
