William Earnest "Buff" Kayser, 73, of Keokuk, Iowa, Died at 11:10 AM Friday, February 29, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Kayser was born August 23, 1934, in Keokuk, Iowa, the John and Wilma Howren Kayser. He married Shirley Morgan on October 30, 1955, in Keokuk, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1993. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and worked in production for Hubinger Company and later Heintz for a total of 43 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of New Testament Christian Church. He enjoyed working with his hands, doing woodworking, and helping people with their remodeling projects.

He is survived by a daughter. Karla Bevard and her husband, Jim, of Keokuk; a son, Kevin Kayser and his wife, Anna, of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, A.J., Barney, Christopher, Shanna, Jennifer, Justin, David, and Debra; eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; a son, William Jr., a daughter, Judy; and a sister, Shirley.

A memorial service was at 4:00 PM Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. His body has been cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Lee County Hospice.
