Tributes

Michael Davis wrote on Jun 15, 2008:

"My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the entire Henke family. I found Kenneth's obituary while doing some computer research in regards to the USS Abner Read. My Dad (Max Davis) was also aboard the Abner Read the day she was sunk in the Pacific. In recent years I have had the pleasure of meeting several of those men that served on that ship during World War II. I have dreams of gathering together some of the stories of these men and their service. I also have dreams of making contact with family and friends of the Abner Read crew members and sharing stories. May we never forget the sacrifice those men made in service to their country in those days. I would be pleased to correspond with any of Kenneth's family to learn more of his Naval service. However, I do know that many never talked much about those days because of the happenings of that November 1st so many years ago. However, we must never forget and continue to remember and give thanks for their service. I have forwarded Kenneth's obituary to Daryl Weather (a shipmate that lives in California) he prints a newsletter from time to time and perhaps in his next newsletter he will include news of Kenneth's passing. For now God bless, please know that my thoughts are with you this day. Sincerely, Michael Davis Tilden, Nebraska "
