Margaret Hiss, age 48, of Columbia City, IN passed away at her home on Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2008. Born on August 29, 1960 in Hammond, IN, she was the daughter of Casimir and Lucille (Kosiba) Lesniewski.She graduated with the Class of 1979 from George Rogers Clark High School, Whiting, IN. She completed her education with an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Institute of Technology. On June 25, 1983, she married Robert Joseph Hiss, Jr. at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City. For the past 27 years, she resided in Union Township, Whitley County, IN where she was a homemaker and mother and assisted her husband on the Hiss family farms in Union Township. Since 1998, she was employed by Autoliv, Columbia City, until her health failed. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD and VBS. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 13 years and PTO President for Coesse School for 7 years.Survivors include her husband, Robert Joseph Hiss, Jr. of Columbia City, IN; 3 daughters, Ashley M. (Charles) Grogg, Amber M. Hiss and Anna M. Hiss all of Columbia City, IN; 1 brother, John Lesniewski of Columbia City, IN; 3 sisters, Christine (Thomas) Robinson of Bellvue, NE, Catherine Hetzel of Hawaii and Anna (Brian) Flott of Yelm, WA; 4 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; many nieces & nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Julie Groupy.Visitation is 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer vigil on Friday, September 12, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is 12 noon on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S Line Street, Columbia City, IN. Father Larry Kramer will officiate. Graveside service is 3 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery, 402 E Ellsworth Street, Columbia City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Hiss to St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church Food Pantry, Heartland Hospice or Hope Lodge, Mid-South Division, 1500 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502.
