JOYCE JOAN NESTEL
October 28, 1927 - March 23, 2011

Joyce Joan Lindemann Nestel, age 83, of South Whitley, IN passed away at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at her home.Born October 28, 1927 in Wells County, IN, she was the daughter of Ralph J. and Juanita (Shady) Lindemann.

She graduated from Lancaster High School, Wells County, with the Class of 1945.She completed her education attending Indiana University.On July 10, 1947 she married Dan A. Nestel in Wells County.Joyce spent her adult lifetime in Tocsin, Bluffton, and then moved to Rockford, IL moving to Churubusco and since 1965, she lived in South Whitley. She worked as a secretary and in the marketing department at RCA, Bloomington; then she and her husband co-owned Bliss Cafe in Bluffton; she then worked for Dr. Sheppard's dental office, South Whitley; and lastly she owned Strawberry Patch Antiques, South Whitley.

Survivors include her children, Dana N. (Ed) Bristow of Fort Wayne, Denise L. Nestel of Houston, TX, Bradley L. Nestel of South Whitley and Darci L. (Joe) Kessie of South Whitley; grandchildren, Micah Besson of Lancaster, CA; Danielle (Jared) Riske of San Diego, CA;Marcus Besson of Grand Rapids, MI;Nicole and Chloe Nestel both of South Whitley; Kaitlin Kessie of Birmingham, MI; Taylor Kessie of South Whitley; Jason Bristow of Holt, MI and Andrea Ykema of Hudsonville, MI; 7 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents andhusband, Dan A. Nestel.

Visitation is Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 2-5 p.m at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Private family funeral services will be held with Pastor Bob Herman officiating.Burial will be held at a later date in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley.Memorial gifts may be given inMrs. Nestel's memory to the American Lung Association/E.F.F.O.R.T.S. for COPD, Whitley County Humane Society, Parkview-Whitley Hospice, South Whitley Public Library or the Whitley County Community Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
