HAZEL IRENE RICHEY
December 16, 1919 - December 8, 2012

Hazel Irene Richey, age 92, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City. Born on December 16, 1919 in South Whitley, IN, she was the daughter of Adam and Mary (Beeks-North) Parrett.

She was born in South Whitley and later moved to Columbia City the remainder of her lifetime. She attended Columbia City High School. On June 9, 1936 she married Raymond H. Richey at Larwill United Methodist. She worked at Blue Bell as a young girl, Haffner's Department Store as assistant manager and lastly at Mode O' Day ladies shop as a clerk, retiring in 1987.She attended Columbia City United Methodist Church and was a member of Ruth Rebecca Lodge #341, President of Past Noble Grand Club and the Theo Club, AARP and Lakeview Ladies Club.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Ronald (Kris) Richey of Columbia City and Roger (Karen)Richey of Melbourne, FL; 1 sister, Thelma North of Columbia City; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren 10 great.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond H. Richey: 4 sons, Raymond I. and Larry Eugene Richey, James and Jerry Parrett, 4 brothers, Edward, James, Ferrey and Glen Parrett, 1 sister, Gertrude Coy and 2 half brothers, George and John North.

Visitation is 2-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Kent Lundy officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery.Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Richey to Interfaith Mission or Columbia City United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

I remember working there on Christmas Eve and how she had orchestrated a wonderful meal for everyone to enjoy during their breaks, gave everyone a gift, and a Christmas bonus!
