Charles E. Snyder
September 18, 1946 - November 22, 2016

Charles Edward Snyder, 70, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born September 18, 1946 in Roaring Springs, Pa., he was the son of Wilbur L. and Betty L. (Aungst) Snyder.

He had been a resident of Kosciusko County from 1965-2004, when he moved to the Whitley County area. He graduated from Central Cove High School in Martinsburg, Pa with the Class of 1964. He attended Grace College, St. Francis College and Indiana University, while attending IPFW. On December 19, 2004, he married Patricia J. Goodin. After 41 years of service, Charles retired from Whitko Community Schools in 2010. He had been a principal and teacher at Larwill, Pierceton and Whitko Middle Schools. He also helped start the Whitko football program. He was a life-long member of his hometown church, Roaring Springs Mennonite Church, Roaring Springs, Pa and recently transferred his membership to New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Snyder; daughter, Sara (Jamie) Yinger, of Columbus, OH; 4 sons, Bart (Kelly) Goodin, Brent Goodin and Brad (Kim) Goodin, all of Columbia City, and Ben (Chana) Goodin of Fort Wayne, IN; mother, Betty Snyder, of Roaring Springs, Pa.; brother, Dennis (Karen) Snyder of Roaring Springs, Pa.; sister, Betty Lou (Steve) Boyer of Myerstown, Pa; and 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Private family visitation and graveside services will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Stough Cemetery, 2400 North Etna Road, Columbia City with Pastor Jason Tash officiating. A public memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City. Memorial gifts may be given in his memory to New Hope Wesleyan Church. Arrangements entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Country side Drive, Columbia City.
