Arline M. Tobin
January 3, 1925 - December 29, 2017

Arline Marie Tobin daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Lloyd) Brandt was born January 3, 1925, in Granada, MN. She attended country school in Granada, MN. After the 8th grade her family moved to Iowa near Ledyard. She attended Grant Township School where she graduated from High School in 1942.

On September 9, 1946, Arline was united in marriage to Johnie W. Tobin at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Johnie and Arline lived and farmed near Swea City until 1981. They then moved to Granada, MN and later moved to Fairmont, MN, in 2002.

Arline worked as the secretary to the Methodist Church in Swea City, IA, for many years. She then commuted to Fairmont, MN, to become the bookkeeper for Wilson's and Dimensions, a new clothing store in the mall. She worked as the bookkeeper for 13 years until the store closed. Arline's various other jobs after the store closed included Chris Candy, Armour Foods, Jeff's Bakery and as a food demonstrator in the Fairmont Grocery Stores well into her 80's.

Arline enjoyed vegetable gardening and flower gardening. She worked hard all her life. She enjoyed dancing and socializing with family and friends. She dearly loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arline died Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, IA, at the age of 92.

Arline is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Lee Harper (Scott) of Crawfordville, FL; Marcia Roehler (Scott) of Estherville, IA; daughter-in-law, Susan Tobin of Swea City, IA; six grandchildren, Joshua Tobin, Stephanie Nelson, Casey Tobin, Dr. Jessica Tobin, Kaitlynn Tobin and Matthew Roehler and eight great-grandchildren and three nephews and nieces and their families.

Arline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnie W. Tobin; son, Michael Tobin and a sister, Elaine Brock.
