Blahnik Milas

Milas Blahnik age 90 of Deerbrook died Thursday December 14, 2006 at his home on Noboken Lane. He was born February 15, 1916 in Kewaunee to Adolph and Emma (Lazansky) Blahnik. He attended Holy Rosary Parochial School and graduated from Kewaunee High School. Mr. Blahnik served three years in the U.S. Army signal corps attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant having served in Africa, France and Germany. He married Irma Tatro on July 9, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox, she survives.

Milas was employed for 30 years with his father and brothers with Blahnik Manufacturing Company in Antigo. They specialized in building cabinetry and furnishings for churches, many of which are in use today. In the late 1970's he began working for Johnson Brothers of Tomahawk doing finishing work on industrial buildings.

Mr. Blahnik was an active musician having played in bands in Kewaunee, the Romy Gosz band in Manitowoc, and with his brothers in the Mel Blahnik Band in Antigo. Besides dance bands he played in Antigo with the American Legion Band, the Cosmopolitan Orchestra, VFW Band, and the Antigo Community Band.

His hobbies included fishing, skiing, playing a variety of musical instruments, following NFL football, and restoring wood carvings his father had made, and making wood bowls and furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Irma.
Two daughters Linda of Wausau, and Carol (Kevin) Zinda of Antigo.
One son James (Barbara) of Antigo.

One sister Marie (Richard) Narloch of Lady Lake, Florida.

Five grandchildren Shannon Blahnik, Danielle and Melanie Blahnik, Michael and Bryan Zinda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers Edward, Alfred, Melvin, Daniel, Adolph Jr. Three sisters Sylvia Blahnik, Irene Duffek, Mable Totzke.





Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 16, 2006 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Friday 3:30 - 7:30 pm at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 am Parish wake service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. .
