Szitta John
December 26, 1948 - December 17, 2006

Specialist E-4 John Henry Szitta, 57, of Pembine, died Sunday December 17, 2006 at his home. He was born December 26, 1948 in Antigo to John and Germaine (Giese) Szitta, his mother survives. Following graduation from Antigo High School in 1968 John joined the U.S. Army and served in Turkey for 3 years. After service he worked for many years a boiler operator at the Goodman Lumber Mill and as a dairy farmer which was his passion. He married Sharon Maddix on May 27, 1973, they later divorced. In 1985 John joined the Army Reserve and served on active duty from 2003 until the present. On July 31, 2004 he married Gladys Kendl at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine, she survives.

Survivors include his wife Gladys, his mother Germaine of Bryant.
Three sons; Mark (Jessica) of Hatley, Justin(Amanda) of Antigo, Corey of Two Rivers.
Two Sisters; Karen (Bill) Krueger of Birmingham Al., Kathy (Steve) Vetter of California, MD.
Four Brothers; His twin Joe (Jackie) San Diego, CA., Charles of Bryant, Ken (DeeDee) of Seabeck, WA., Jerry (Collette) of Prescott.
Five grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and a grandson Holden James Szitta.

Services will be held in Pembine and Antigo. Funeral services in Pembine will be at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church on Wednesday December 20, 2006 with Rev. Gene Wickman officiating. Burial will be held in the Pembine Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:30 until time of services at the church on Wednesday.

In Antigo a memorial service will be held on Friday December 22, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Erwin Messer officiating. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites following the services at the funeral home on Friday.
