Stanley Liss
October 2, 1918 - February 5, 2007

Stanley Frank Liss, 88 of Elcho, WI died February 5, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. He was born October 2, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to the late, Stanley & Helen (Pawlawski) Liss. He married June Marie Hasselman on March 6, 1941 in Elmwood Park, IL. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2003.
Mr. Liss was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Elcho.
He served in the in the Thirty-third Division of the Illinois National Guard prior to WW11 and served in the United States Army from March 5, 1941 to September 13, 1945. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. In addition to receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement.
He lived in Des Plaines, Illinois where he was employed for A.D.Conner Company as a tanker driver for 26 years. He retired in 1979.
He and his wife moved to Pelican Lake in 1982 where they lived until moving to Elcho in 1997.
Survivors include 3 daughters; Eileen June Liss, Salinas, CA; Cheryl Ann (Alfred) Manchester, Hannover Park, IL; Kathleen (Michael) Zywicki, Elgin, IL; 2 sons, Wayne (Marion) Liss, Greenfield, WI and Glenn Liss,Charlotte, N.C.;1 sister, Dorothy Johnson, McHenry, IL; 1 brother, Fritz (Eleanor) Liss, DeParis, MO; 10 grandchildren Bryan, Gary "Chip", Jennifer, Laurie, Valerie, Shannon, Nicholas, Kalyn, Jacob, and Andrew and 7 great grandchildren, Stephanie, Lindsay, Kaitlin, Noah, Ryan, Nicole and Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 brother, Edmund Liss.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Bradley Funeral Home. Reverend Jack LaMar will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-11 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Elcho Cemetery.
