Jamil "Jim" LaHam
August 24, 1922 - March 16, 2007

Jamil "Jim" LaHam, age 84, of Antigo died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Evergreen Terrace, Antigo. He was born August 24, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI the son of the late Dr. Jamil and Suzanne (Parks) LaHam.
On October 30, 1942 he married Anita Mueller in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 29, 1980.
Mr. LaHam attended grade school in Winneconne. WI. After moving to Ripon, he attended Pio Nono Catholic High School in Milwaukee. He graduated in 1941. He attended Ripon College for a year. He Joined the U.S. Navy in 1942,. As a Medical Corpsman, he trained at Great Lakes, IL, Camp LeJune, N.C. He served in the South Pacific, as a Corpsman with the U.S. Marines at in the battle of Okinawa. He was discharged on December 25, 1945 as a Pharmacist Mate First Class.
Mr. LaHam graduated from St. Norbert College, DePere, WI in 1952. He joined the staff of Mattoon High School, Mattoon, WI as a teacher and basketball coach. In the fall of 1955, Mr. LaHam joined the Antigo Senior High School staff, teaching and coaching junior varsity boys basketball until becoming head boys basket ball coach in 1960. He retired, from coaching in 1967 He received his Master's Degree in Administration from Winona State College, Winona, MN .. He served as athletic director and assistant principal until retiring in 1984.
Mr. LaHam was Drivers' Education coordinator and enjoyed years as a football referee, as well as fishing, golfing, and watching athletic events . He was an avid reader and enjoyed music.
He was a member of St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo, a member of the Antigo Elks Lodge 662, he was a member of professional teaching and coaching organizations in the state.

and nine great grandchildren Sophia, Ty, Trey, Arthur, Bryce, Brynn, Noelle, Timothy, Nicholas and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sons; two infants, Peter and John, and Paul LaHam, a grandson L/Cpl John Mattek, Jr., two brothers Stan and Quinton LaHam.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at St.Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church. Rev. Jeremiah Worman will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45, Antigo. Antigo Veterans will conduct military honors at church following services. Burial will be in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is established.
