Martin "Marty" Varga
March 21, 1936 - March 17, 2007

Martin "Marty" Varga, age 70, of Antigo and formerly of Stevens Point died Saturday, March 17, 2007 in Wausau at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 21, 1936 in Mosonszentpeter, Hungary to the late Josef and Elisabeth (Bohm) Varga.
He and his family moved from Hungary to Germany in 1945, from Germany to the United States on June 26, 1952 and settled in Haw River, NC where the family was employed by Senator Ralph Scott. They then moved to Stevens Point in December of 1952.
He was educated in Germany where he served a carpentry apprenticeship.
He married Nancy Walter on May 10, 1958 in Stevens Point. They later divorced. After a six year courtship, he and Beverly Tillman-Berndt married on October 7, 2006 at St. John Catholic Church Antigo. She survives.
He was employed as a cabinet maker at Vetter Manufacturing Company and the Stevens Point Public School System prior to his employment as a facility repair worker for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, WI. He retired in 1997.
He built numerous homes for his family and helped relatives build their homes.
A member of St. John Catholic Church, Antigo, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, walking, bicycling, and golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Julie Ann Varga, a sister Elisabeth Scott and three brothers Josef, Otto, and Frank Varga.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday March 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. Rev. Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Bradley Funeral Home Hwy 45 Antigo Tuesday from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a Wake/Prayer Service at 4:00 PM. The visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45, Antigo. Entombment will be held at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo.
