Margaret Gatton
February 13, 1923 - June 14, 2007

Margaret Gatton age 84 died Thursday June 14, 2007 at Pine Meadow under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was born on February 13, 1923 in Antigo to James and Margaret (Kelly) Iris and she married Raleigh Gatton on July 20, 1945 in Escanaba, Michigan. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1962.
She graduated from Antigo High School in 1940 and Langlade County Normal School in 1942. She received her bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Stevens Point Teachers College in 1961. She taught in the Elton one room school, Strasberg grade school, and the Fifth Ward School in Antigo. Mrs Gatton taught sixth grade at West Elementary Grade School, later became Principal until retiring in 1986.
A member of St. John Catholic Church, she was a member of the Altar Society, The Catholic Women's Association and served on the Parish Council and the Board of Education. She received a gubernatorial appointment to the Wisconsin Council of Special Education, and was active with the Antigo Very Special Arts program.
Survivors include four daughters Mickey (Jack) Anderson of Douglas, Wyoming, Ginny Johnson of Green Valley, Arizona, Gail (Mark Wittow) Gatton of Seattle, Washington, Terri (David) Tishim of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Two sons Clyde (Mary) Gatton and John (Jean) Gatton all of Antigo, twenty-four grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Also survived by one brother Keith (Barb) Iris of Stevens Point.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters Luella Duchrow and Virginia Iris, two brothers James and Eugene Iris.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.
Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
