Kenneth Veselak
April 8, 1924 - November 7, 2007

Kenneth VESELAK, 83 of Antigo, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Langlade Memorial Hospital. He was born April 8, 1924 in Antigo, to Joseph and Barbara (Hubatch) Veselak. He married Phyllis Zumhagen on September 2, 1950 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point.

He attended St. John parochial school and graduated from Antigo High School in 1942. He received a Bachelor Degree in Education from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1951, and Masters Degree in Education in 1967. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from February 1943 to October 1945.

Mr. Veselak taught grade school for two years in Bowler then at St. Mary Catholic School in Antigo from 1953-1958.
In 1958 he began a twenty five year teaching career at Elcho Public School where he served as Principal for fourteen years. He also served as Principal at Markesan for three years, retired in 1987 and moved to Antigo in 1989. Ken taught snowmobile and boat safety courses and organized gun safety courses. He served as area coordinator at Nicolet College for adult education. He was active with the Post Lake Improvement Association.

Ken was a 37 year member of the American Legion Noetzelman-Boodry Post 377, Elcho where he served as the Post Adjutant for 16 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1002. He sang in the Antigo Men's Chorus and his church choir.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, 2 Sons, Dr. Stephen Veselak, Antigo, David (Cindi) Veselak, Weston; Six grandchildren Ash, Austin, Ali, Derek, Dillon, Amanda.

He was preceded in death by his son Christopher in 1978, parents and one brother Raymond, one sister Phyllis Gulick.

Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Kosterman officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Elcho where the Elcho Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. The Elcho American Legion Post will stand honor guard at the funeral home from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. Friday and the parish wake service is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
