Helen J. Bornemann, 87 of Bass Lake died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Langlade Memorial Hospital in LeRoyer Hospice.

She was born March 19, 1921 in Sheboygan, WI, Daughter of the late Dewey O. and Eleanor (Rawlings) Johnson Moved to Antigo in 1923, graduated from Antigo High School 1938 and from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing in 1942.
She was employed at Madison General Hospital prior to enlisting in the Army Nurse Corps during WWll

She married the late Donald W. Bornemann in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Aug 14, 1982 She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Elcho, WI andthe Antigo Womens Club

She worked part time in hospitals and nursing homes in Eau Claire and Fond du Lac. She volunteered many years for the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Fond du Lac and Antigo donating over 6 gallons of blood. She was one of the first nurses for Le Royer Hospice in Antigo.

She enjoyed living at the lake, playing cards and socializating with her many friends. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events.


Surviving are 3 daughters, Mary (Richard) Berger Milwaukee, Carol (Steve) Cowan Overland Park, KA, Lori (Todd) Flannery Antigo; son, Larry (Lisa) Bornemann Fond-du-lac ; 3 sisters in law, Jean Johnson Antigo; Arlene Bubon, Antigo, Vyrl Schrumpf Muskegon, MI
12 grandchildren Christine (Mark) Moore, Stephen (Joanna) Berger, Samantha Bornemann, Walker Flannery, Stacey Flannery, Alesha Flannery, Ivan Flannery, Brant Bornemann, Leah Colton, Joe Cowan, Cally Cowan, Katey Cowan.
4 great grandchildren Hannah & Harrison Berger, Julia & Nathaniel Moore

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Borneman and Parents, 2 brothers, John and Dewey Johnson

Services will be held at Bradley Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Jack LaMar officiating.

Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Antigo, WI.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10am to 1:00 pm at the at the Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45, Antigo, WI.
