Sadie M. Panka, 87 of Elcho, WI, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Antigo

She was born , June 10, 1920 in Jennings, WI, Daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Drzewicki) Walentowski.


She married the late Harold Panka on October 28, 1944 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho. He preceded her in death January 30, 1992.

She worked seasonally in resorts in the Post Lake and Pelican Lake areas. She worked in Milwaukee prior to WWll when she had to return to Post Lake to drive her father's logging truck, because her brothers were serving in the military.
Following her marriage, she lived in Wausau and Milwaukee, returning to Elcho in 1952.
She worked seasonally for Morrissey Potato Farm and tended bar.
She enjoyed plastic canvas needle pointing, knitting, and crocheting


Surviving are daughter, Patricia Knuth Milwaukee; 2 sisters, Dorothy Clifford Antigo, Johanna (George) Cmelak Antigo; 2 grandchildren, Mary Lee Rothe Milwaukee, Charlotte Ann (Al) Reyes Cascade, WI; 4 sisters-in-law, Harriet Walentowski Jennings, Agnes Walentowski Jennings, Florence Fredricks Milwaukee, and Alice Panka Antigo; a brother-in-law Valentine (Florence) Panka Kenosha and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, son Harold Panka Jr, 5 brothers Patrick Walentowski killed in WWll, Tony, Harry, Aloysius, and Robert Walentowski, a son-in-law Kenneth Knuth, grandson-in-law Darrel Rothe, a brother-in-law Thomas Clifford.

Services will be held at Bradley Funeral Home, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Noon with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating.



Visitation will be Saturday, June 7 from 10am to Noon at Bradley Funeral Home Antigo, WI.

Interment will follow in the Jennings Cemetery, Town of Schoepke, WI.
