Omer Babe Meyer
November 25, 1919 - July 19, 2008

Omer Babe Meyer, 88 of Antigo, WI, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his home in the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice.

He was born November 25, 1919 in Rosevelt, WI, Son of the late Francis X. and Mary ( Ebert) Meyer.
He was raised in the Aniwa area and attended Sandy Lane Grade School.
He worked at his father's cheese factory and hauled milk to the Kraft plant in Antigo, managed the Aniwa Hardware Store.

During WWll, he served in the United States Army Signal Corps and later as a paratrooper with the 17th Airborne serving in Germany. He also was a driver for Majors and Colonels.

He married Elaine Braun on October 25, 1948 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo
He built and managed the White Owl Mink Ranch. For many years he grew ginseng and was employed as a carpenter. He was a union carpenter working on many construction projects throughout Michigan and Wisconsin.

He was a member of Wisconsin Carpenter's Union, Local 310 of Wausau, 17th Airborne Paratroopers Association.
He enjoyed working with wood.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Meyer 2 daughters, Jennifer (Timothy) Bailey Antigo, Tracy ( Richard) Wild Antigo; 3 sons, Michael (Mary) Meyer Yorkville, IL, Jeff Meyer Antigo, Patrick ( Patricia) Meyer Antigo; 8 grandchildren, Alicia Bailey, Kristen (Tom) Burkhart, Josh Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Jennifer (Tony) Nigbor, Alaina Wild, Tiffany (Larry) Archer, Mitchell Meyer; 3 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth & Laura Burkhart and Emily Archer. sister, Charlotte Heinrich Antigo; brother, Herbert (Mary) Meyer Antigo.

He was preceded in death by Parents, sister Blanche Wyrwas, five brothers Ruben, Mello, Francis, John, and Joseph Meyer

Services will be held at St. John Catholic Church, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Hoffmann, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum, Antigo, WI.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the church Bradley Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements
