Gerd F. Schreiber
March 27, 1927 - September 15, 2008

Gerd F. Schreiber, of Jennings, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Josephine House in Rhinelander. He was 81 years old. Born March 27, 1927 in Nauen, Germany to Franz Johann and Martha (Kissel) Schreiber. He married Josephine Stadler in 1959 in Skokie, Ill, she preceded him in death in 1972. He then married Theresia Remers in 1976 in Chicago, Ill, She preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2007.

He was raised in Germany and entered the German Army at age 17. He served on the German Eastern Front where he was captured and was a prisoner of the Russian Army for five years. After military service he returned to Germany where he became a Master Cosmetologist. Mr. Schreiber worked in Switzerland and Munich, Germany before coming to America in 1956. He lived in Florida and moved to Skokie, Ill where he owned and operated Gerd's House of Beauty. In 1977 he retired from cosmetology and moved to Jennings. He and his wife owned and operated the Pelican Lake Supper Club from 1990 - 2004.
He was an avid outdoorsman and a life member of the National Rifle Association, Duck's unlimited, and played the accordian with the Cassanova's at the Pelican Lake Supper Club on German night.

Survivors include two Sons, Franz (Connie) Schreiber, Black Earth, Fred (Tammy) Remers, Jackson, one Daughter Lisa (Wade) Flanery, Glenwood Springs, CO, eight Grandchildren Missy, Nikki, Jason and Jenna Schreiber, Heather and Tamara Flanery, Christina Remers, Joseph Young, three Great-Grandchildren, Dylan Ubersox, Honon and Arlow Flanery, one Sister, Christel Haspel, Bremen, Germany, and one niece, Dorte Haspel, Bremen, Germany.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at United Church of Christ, Congregational in Elcho with Rev. Jack LaMar officiating. Burial will take place in Town of Schoepke Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to services.
