Genevieve Bartz, formerly of White Lake, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg. She was 93 years old. Born on April 13, 1915 in Markton, WI to the late William and Mary (Jagla) Alft, she married William Bartz on November 1, 1946 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2002.
She attended Markton grade school, graduated from White Lake High School and Langlade County Teachers College, and also attended Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee. Mrs. Bartz taught school in the Milwaukee area for 16 years. She returned to the White Lake area in 1979. Mrs. Bartz was a member of St. James and Stanislaus Catholic Church, where she taught CCD and Bible classes and was active in the St. Anne and St. Zita Societies. She was a member of the Retired Teachers association.
Survivors include one daughter Marilan (Craig) Kuske, Grafton; two grandchildren Sarah(Brian) Doherty and Katie Kuske, one great granddaughter Ava Raine Doherty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in White Lake with Rev. Paul Koszarek, officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
