James Schenk
March 7, 1927 - October 12, 2008

James Jim Schenk, of Antigo, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Langlade Hospital. He was 81 years old. Born March 7, 1927 in Berlin, WI to the late Alvin and Ethel ( Beauprey) Schenk. He married Edna M. Allaire on February 7, 1948 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

He was a member of
St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, was Treasurer of the Post Lake Improvement Association. and served in the U. S. Army during WWll. Following marriage they lived in Milwaukee. He was employed as a salesman in the Dairy and Ice Cream Industry for many years. From 1968 to 1976 he and his wife owned and operated the Country Inn in Phlox. He retired to Post Lake in 1976 and moved to Antigo in 2001. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Edna M. Schenk, 2 daughters, Cathy Hangartner Appleton, Gwen (Dan) Tessmer Antigo; 2 sons, Jeffrey (Becky) Schenk Antigo, Gary (Judy) Schenk Seymour; 3 sisters, Betty Stenson Milwaukee, Virginia Fox Oshkosh, Lucille Hoffman Lomira; brother, Hubert (Linda) Schenk Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Parents, three sisters Corona, Dolores, Rosemary, a brother Alvin and an infant granddaughter Kate Schenk

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11am at St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Michael E. Betley officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15 from 10 to 11 am at church.

A memorial has been established for St. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church.
