Phillip Miller
February 2, 1914 - October 23, 2008

Phillip Miller, of Summit Lake, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Langlade Hospital. He was 94 years old. Born February 2, 1914 in Hatley, WI to the late Barney and Johana (Rogla)Miller He married Sophie Dobizl at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho. She preceded him in death in 1987.

He was born in Hatley and raised in Norrie. He attended aviation mechanic school in Wausau before serving in the United States Army from 1941 to 1943. He was a Corporal working as a truck mechanic in the Army.
After military service he was employed as a truck mechanic for 31 years for Motor Transport Company in Milwaukee. He retired in 1976. He moved to Summit Lake in 1989.
He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho, WI, and Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377, Elcho, WI, He loved to listen to polka music, watch the Brewers and wrestling. As a young man he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Howard (Jane) Dobizl Elcho; 2 sisters, Dorothy Hitz Birnamwood, Mamie Hoppy Clintonville; 4 grandchildren, Howard (Janis) Dobizl, Jr. Rhinelander, John (Deborah) Dobizl Milwaukee, Barbara (Paul) Marsolek Lincoln, NB, Louise (Paul) Fowler Ringle; 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews including Bea Goerke, Dolores Froland and Millie Parise in the Elcho area.

He was preceded in death by Parents, Wife, and ten brothers and sisters.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho with Rev. Roger Strebel, officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery where the Elcho American Legion will conduct military honors. Visitation will be Saturday, October 25 from 9:30 to 11am at church.
