Joseph Skorie
March 12, 1923 - October 30, 2008

Joseph Skorie, of White Lake, died Thursday, October 30, 2008. He was 85 years old. Born March 12, 1923 in White Lake to Michael and Hulda (Fank) Skorie and he married Bernadine Deisinger on Sept. 19, 1953 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake. She survives.

He was raised in White Lake and served in the United States Navy from June 21, 1944 to June 16, 1946. He farmed in the Town of Wolf River for most of his life. He was employed at Yawkee-Bissell Flooring in White Lake for 21 years, and as a custodian at the White Lake School for 13 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake, and the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post 524 in White Lake for 61 years.

Survivors include his wife, five sons, John (Robin) Skorie, Gerald (Loretta) Skorie, Ronald (Melissa) Skorie, Roger (Joanne) Skorie,Thomas Skorie, all of White Lake, two daughters, Harriet (Benney) Boyd, Joanne (Roy) Kemp, all of White Lake, 23 grandchildren, Mandi Skorie-DeHart, Jamilee (Jim) Paul, Gerald Skorie Jr., Pfc. Michael Daley, LCpl. Thomas Daley, Jeremy Skorie, Ronald (Cathy) Skorie Jr., Elizabeth (Josh) Rock, Mike (Casey) Evon, Ben (Karilyn) Boyd, Joel (Vicki) Eldridge, Dewey Boyd, Angel (Andy Beach) Boyd, Emiley, Ashley, Julia and Chelsea Boyd, Pfc. Roy Kemp Jr., Becca Jo Kemp, Josh, Charlie, John, and Candy, 21 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Frieda Vandenburg, Appleton, Martha Hoks, Menasha.

He was preceded in death by one son Harold Skorie, one grandson Jesse Boyd, his parents, one brother Victor Skorie, three sisters Mary Knoll, Elsie Waldoch and Dorothy Skorie.

Services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake with Rev. Steven Vaudt, officiating. Burial will take place in Langlade Cemetery where the White Lake veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
