Marcella Smith
December 9, 1911 - January 2, 2009

Marcella Smith, of Antigo, died Friday, at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. She was 97 years old. She was born December 9, 1911 in Hatley, to John and Frances (Platta) Petarski.

She married Cloyse E. Mishler on Nov. 22, 1933, he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1975. On April 16, 1977 she and Henry Menting were wed, he preceded her in death on March 10, 1982. She later married Clayton Smith on Sept. 12, 1987 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2000.
She worked at Rivergrove Grade School where she initiated the school lunch program. She retired in 1973. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, sewing, knitting, and crochetting. She did volunteer work at Eastview Manor and was a 15 year Red Cross volunteer.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Ronald) Hagen Irma, Joan (Ray) Pond, Rhinelander; one son, James (Carol) Mishler, Deerbrook; 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Including her husbands she was preceded in death by three sons Cloyse Butch Mishler Jr., John Mishler and Richard Mishler in infancy, ten brothers and sisters.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo with Rev. Jerry Hagen, Mrs. Smith's grandson, officiating. Burial will take place in Kempster-Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
