Shirley Meidl
July 30, 1926 - January 18, 2009

Shirley Meidl, of Antigo, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center in the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 82 years old. Born July 30, 1926 in Town of Norwood to the late Arthur and Myrtel (Litts) Tillman. She married Joseph Meidl, Sr. on September 11, 1946 at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo. He preceded her in death on 11/17/1978.

She is a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church,Phlox, and the St. Anne Society. She attended Sugarbush Grade School and Antigo High School. Prior to her marriage she worked in Milwaukee. Following marriage she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Norwood. She work at A.F. Schulz Creamery for 12 years and was a clerk at the Phlox Post Office for 15 years.
She loved to create many things, crafts and painting were her passion along with her flower beds and the birds that enjoyed them. She was an avid sewer of Barbie doll cloths. Many grandchildren treasure the hand made articles grandma made.

Survivors include 5 daughters, Kathleen (Rodney) Keen Oshkosh, Victoria Meidl Antigo, Cheryl (Bob) Guethner Antigo, Mary (Jamie) Arrowood Phlox, Patricia (David) Jakubek Phlox; 5 sons, Donald (Darlene) Meidl Antigo, John (Bobbie) Meidl Littleton, CO, Rodney (Pamela) Meidl Antigo, Joseph (Elizabeth) Meidl, Jr. Phlox, Robert (Samantha) Meidl Columbia, MS; 3 sisters, Sybil Dewey Post Lake, Joan Meidl Jefferson, Sharon (Wayne) Smith Schofield; sister-in-law, Genevevie Tillman St. Germain, 33 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great granddaughter Elizabeth Drexler and two great grandsons Ryan Drexler and Caleb Thiel, two sisters Theda Tillman and Louise Kuney and two brothers Eugene and Donald Tillman

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. David Kiefer and Deacon Tom Hartman, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21 form 3:30 to 8:00 pm with a parish wake service at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Funeral Home and Thursday at church from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

A memorial has been established in her memory to the LeRoyer Hospice and Norwood Fire Department.
