Harold Rasmussen
November 23, 1917 - March 17, 2009

Harold Rasmussen, of Antigo, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was 91 years old. He was born November 23, 1917 in the Town of Peck, to John and Theresa (Hoffman) Rasmussen. He married LaVerne Vaughan on July 24, 1940 at Davenport, Iowa.
She preceded him in death on January 5, 2006.

After marriage he lived in Illinois for several years. Mr. Rasmussen moved to the Town of Norwood where he owned and operated a farm from 1945 to 1960. He then worked as a welder at Ironworks in Wausau until retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and the Msgr. Conrad Saile Knights of Columbus Council 1002 in Antigo. He enjoyed repairing clocks, especially grandfather clocks.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie (Doug) Washatko, Missoula, MT, two sons, Ellsworth Rasmussen, Colorado Springs, CO, Paul (Susie) Rasmussen, Antigo, two sisters, Theresa Miller, Milwaukee, Bernice Smith, Manitowoc, numerous grandchildren three of whom he raised, Robin (Greg) Verhasselt, Phlox, DiAnn Robinson, Hudson, Sarah (Brian) Austad, Tewksbury, MA., and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, one son, James, one daughter, Lois Brennan, two grandchildren, Anthony Robinson and Orlando Gibbs, five brothers, Elmer, Melvin, Clarence, Johnnie and Raymond, four sisters, Ruth, Christine, Hulda and Anna.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Betley officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Parish wake service will be held Friday at 4:00 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 5:30 p.m. all at the funeral home.
