Virginia Laycock
July 15, 1928 - March 26, 2009

Virginia Laycock, of Antigo, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She was 80 years old. She was born July 15, 1928 in the Town of Harrison, Marathon County, to Joseph and Marie (Schisel) Skarlupka. She married Theodore Laycock on November 29, 1947 at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo.
He preceded her in death on January 1, 1976.

She tied flies for Sheldons for 11 years and worked at Nortec in Antigo. She operated her own urethane casting business that she ran until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Oratory in Wausau.

Virginia loved to polka dance, garden, read books about the Catholic religion and health. She especially loved spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Selenske, Westfield, Teresa (William) Bullis, Middleton; four sons, Melvin (Ruth) Laycock, New Berlin, WI, Paul (Sue) Laycock, Elton, Steven (Robin) Laycock, Pleasant Hill, MO, Daniel Laycock, Phoenix , AZ; three sisters, Dorothy Rose, Antigo, Mary Jane Fleischman, Wausauke, Irene Frisch, Antigo; five brothers, Bernard Skarlupka Gleason, George (Carol) Skarlupka Pelican Lake, Joseph (Georgiann) Skarlupka White Lake, David (Jean) Skarlupka Pelican Lake, Andrew (Phyllis) Skarlupka Merrill, 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, one sister Florence, two great granddaughters Emma Stephens and Malayna Selenske.

The rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Oratory, 325 Grand Ave. Wausau, with Fr. Henry Fragelli, officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation will be Wed. April 1, from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
