In loving memory of

Sarah Staack Roll
January 1, 1900 - May 2, 2009

Sarah Staack Roll, born in Moline, Illinois, on September 21, 1948, left us for the kingdom of Heaven on May 2, 2009, after a prolonged fight with cancer. A committed health care advocate in life, she worked as a registered nurse in Springfield, Illinois, and Stillwater, Oklahoma. She will be remembered for her wit, intelligence, and fearlessness. Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved parents Julius and Elizabeth, her sister Susan, and her adoring aunt Mimi. Upon death, Sarah was surrounded by her friends and family, including her devoted husband John, whom she married on May 18, 1974. She is also survived by her daughters Betsy (and her husband Ricardo), Maggie, and Katy (and her fiancé Travis); her siblings Betsy, John, and Lucy; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration in honor of Sarah's life will be held at the Knights Templar Club near Summit Lake, Wisconsin, later this summer. In lieu of services, her family asks that memorial donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The family extends their thanks to Dr. Umang Gautam and to the nurses and staff of the Aspirus cancer centers in Antigo and Wausau for their exceptional care of Sarah. The family also wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Lakshmi Deep and the nurses and staff of the Aspirus clinic in Elcho for their unparalleled care and friendship.
